Hurricane Sandy Survivor Finally Going Home
Tommy survived Hurricane Sandy, diabetes and diabetic neuropathy, but never found that “purrfect” home… until now! Congratulations to our kitty survivor, Tommy!
On November 17, 2012, with the help of Southwest Airlines, SeaWorld Rescue and BP Oil, Helen Woodward Animal Center transported nearly 50 animals from affected shelters on the East Coast. Due to the large influx of displaced pets because of Hurricane Sandy, room was needed and their time was running out. By giving up their place, they are making it easier for the hurricane Sandy displaced pets to be reunited with their families.

We asked families, supporters and fans, “Why are you thankful for your pets this year?” We received a wide range of responses , but found one uniting theme to every response we received: the gratitude for the unconditional love our pets bring to our families and our lives.
Shortly after Rio’s rescue from Superstorm Sandy, it was discovered Rio was terminally ill. She is now looking for an angelic foster family to provide a loving home for her.
