Reindeer Bird Feeder DIY
Easy Holiday Crafts for Kids – Make a Reindeer Bird Feeder!
Using easy-to-find materials, build a craft that will spread holiday cheer to your feathery friends! This reindeer bird feeder is the perfect holiday activity for kids.
As birds migrate south seeking warmer weather and more food, San Diego becomes a great nesting (or resting) spot for these feathery friends. Flying miles and miles these birdies sure are hungry; your family can help them out by providing a hearty meal sure to warm their bellies. You and your little one can watch from afar as many different birds help themselves to these scrumptious seeds – count how many different species you see fly by!
Reindeer Bird Feeder Materials
You will need:
- Pine cone
- Peanut butter
- Bird seed
- Red pom-poms
- Brown pipe cleaners
- Hot glue gun
Step One: Cover the pine cone with peanut butter.
Step Two: Roll the peanut butter pine cone in birdseed.
Step Three: Make antlers out of pipe cleaners by twisting two pieces of pipe cleaner around the “stem” of the antler.
Step Four: Hot glue the antlers in between scales of the pine cone where the ears would go. Also hot glue the pom pom to the front of the pine cone. This will be your reindeer’s nose!
Step Five: Cut yarn and tie around the upper scales of the pine cone (the more fun and festive the yarn – the better!)
Step Six: Hang up in your favorite tree for the birds to enjoy. Remember to keep track of all the different birds you see!
