Lori Walton Receives 2012 “Humane Award”
Helen Woodward Animal Center Celebrates the Extraordinary Animal Advocacy of a Paws-itively Giving Individual
Mike Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center, presented the 2012 Humane Award to Lori Walton, wife of basketball legend Bill Walton, for her incredible dedication to improving the quality of life for orphaned animals on Wednesday, October 10, at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club.
Lori currently works in the Juvenile Court System and recently completed her thesis for a Master’s in Psychology which measured the difference in self-esteem and self-efficacy between girls at juvenile hall who received traditional therapy and those who learned the same lessons while training a service dog. Lori continues to specialize in canine assisted therapy for at-risk adolescents. Lori & her husband Bill live in San Diego with their 3 dogs and cat.
