The Ken-Barky Derby Races in to Helen Woodward Animal Center
No Horsing Around in this “Run with the Noses” Competition
In honor of this weekend’s Kentucky Derby, Helen Woodward Animal Center invites the media and the public to don their finest spectator hats and head out to the Ken-Barky Derby on Thursday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. post time. Twenty available “gelding” and “filly” puppies (bearing the names of contending Derby Horses) will to go nose-to-nose in a “Run with the Noses” Competition in the Center Paddocks Arena. Rose-shaped dog biscuits will lead them to the finish line but each pup ultimately aims to finish in the arms of a loving family. Each adopter of a Ken-Barky Derby Puppy will be automatically entered to win a “Furcedes Benz” sports car dog bed, a rose-themed gift basket and a “gold cup” dog bowl.
Animal Services Manager Ed Farrelly will be on sight to officiate the race, Pet Expert Rob Kuty from San Diego Pet Training will oversee the runners to guarantee that no unfair “horse-play” occurs and Helen Woodward Animal Center Companion Animal Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Carter will attend from the sidelines to monitor the Derby contenders’ health and safety.
Are you thinking of adopting a puppy? Any individuals or families thinking about pet adoption are welcome to attend the Ken-Barky Derby! We invite you to check out the runners to see if you are their ‘pawfect’ match!
