Most Heartwarming Story Winner for Week Eight of ‘Iams Home 4 the Holidays’

Another heartwarming story from around the country! Here is this week’s ‘Most Heartwarming Story’ from Iams Home 4 the Holidays! Each Thursday Helen Woodward Animal Center announces the weekly winner of that week’s ‘Most Heartwarming Story’ from Iams Home 4 the Holidays! Animal welfare organizations from around the world are working together to find loving homes for 1.5 million orphaned animals this holiday season.

This week’s winner comes from the Edmonton Humane Society! Poor Modo was beaten by a large metal object, possibly a pipe, and left for dead. How did a dog left to die find happiness?

“Modo, a 2-year-old Basset Hound blend, was transferred to the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) from Humane Animal Rescue Team (HART) with a severely fractured back leg on October 9.  It is believed that the dog was beaten by someone with a pipe in a remote area south of Edmonton, Alberta Canada, before being brought to members of the “hart” team.  Witnesses will not come forward to Canada’s national police force so, unfortunately, charges cannot be laid.

Watch Modo after his fractured leg surgery:

Modo’s back right leg was in a splint in an effort to heal the broken bones.  Modo then went into foster care until he was ready for adoption. He was adopted immediately after being available!

Watch Modo in his foster home and then greeting his new forever family:

Thank you, Edmonton Humane Society!

Remember: each week we choose a heartwarming story and that organization or rescue will be in the running for a $500 prize at the end of the campaign!

If you are an animal welfare facility or rescue, you can join Iams Home 4 the Holidays, too! Click here to find more information.
