It’s that time of the week again: Heartwarming Story time! Each Thursday Helen Woodward Animal Center announces the weekly winner of that week’s ‘Most Heartwarming Story’ from Iams Home 4 the Holidays! Animal welfare organizations from around the world are working together to find loving homes for 1.5 million orphaned animals this year.
This week’s winner is Escambia Animal Services, located in Escambia, Florida! It’s a particularly heartwarming story that tells of an adopted boy now adopting his very own dog.
Late last night, a little before our closing time, we had a nice woman, Mrs. Rouse, come into the shelter to look at our dogs that we have for adoption. She found one that she absolutely loved. After talking with her she explained that she was adopting a dog for her new son.
It took her five years to get the adoption paperwork to go through for her son. Her new son is from China and during that time he was in foster care. His foster parent had both a dog and cat and he really wanted one of each. She agreed to get him a dog to start with.
Well enter Hogie, a one year old Long Haired Dauchshund; sadly, his previous mommy couldn’t keep him. Well, it was love at first sight. After much talking and discussion she decided to wait to bring her son in to see Hogie so he could have the final say. Poor Hogie was so sad that he wasn’t going home right away.
Hogie had a new family that loves him to pieces. Mrs. Rouse even went out last night and bought him a new collar and a new leash for him.”
Thank you, Escambia Animal Services! Remember: each week we choose a heartwarming story and that organization or rescue will be in the running for a $500 prize at the end of the campaign!
